Coy Homer Newman

Apr. 25, 1918 - Aug. 26, 2012

Coy Homer Newman, 94, of Chesterfield, passed away on August 26, 2012.  He was born April 25, 1918 in Patrick County to Eddie P. & Nannie Lou Mable Newman.  Mr. Newman was a retired Building Contractor and served in the US Navy during WWII (South Pacific).  He is survived by two sons, C. H. Newman, Jr. (Carolyn) of Chesterfield, Michael K. Newman of South Carolina; two sisters, Mary Maxey, Minnie Bowlin; three brothers, Woodrow Newman, Dewey Newman, Otis Newman; four grandchildren, Gregory, Michael, Tracy and Travis; six great-grandchildren.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan. Funeral services will be held Thursday 2:30 pm in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, N.H. 03086.
