Barbara Hutchinson Addington

Barbara Hutchinson Addington, 80, of Powhatan, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Stacy Meleski Schalow (David); her son, Bradley Addington (Tywanda); grandchild, William Maddox; sister, Nancy Webb (Butch); and brother, John Hutchinson (Deb). Barbara was born in Arlington, Va., but built her home in Powhatan, where she would raise her children, in 1980. Many referred to her as a hard working strong independent woman. Most of all, however, she believed in and demonstrated equality for everyone. She enjoyed people of other cultures and helping young children learn to read. Her celebration of life will be held 2 PM Saturday, January 18th, at Bennett & Barden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to firstbook.org, a site that provides books for children in need.
