85, of Midlothian, passed away February 7, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Daisy Tunstall; sisters, Daisy Violet Coates, Annie Mae Pizzuto; brother, George Herbert Tunstall; step-daughter, Kathleen Violette Hoyt and her surviving husband Tom of Baton Rouge, LA. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ashton Violette; son, Charles Michael Nichols (Kelly) of Kill Devil Hills, NC; sister, Betty Jo Jenkins (Dennis) of Powhatan; step sons, John Violette (Melinda) of Midlothian, Stuart Violette of Louisiana and David Violette (Julie) of Blacksburg. Barbara started to work for C&P Telephone Company in 1951 as an operator. She held many positions including Employment Supervisor and Service representative Trainer with Staff support for Virginia and West Virginia. When the Bell System split in 1984, she chose to go with AT&T as a Sales Manager where she won many awards. She retired in 1989. She was a wonderful Mother, Mother in law, Step Mother, Step Grandmother and Step Great Grandmother. She belonged to the Salisbury Presbyterian Church and the Salisbury Country Club where she was active in the Women's Golf Association and the City Women's Golf Association. In recent years, she became an excellent Bridge player and enjoyed playing with many groups. She got a lot of pleasure helping others as they learned to play Bridge. She enjoyed spending time at Nags Head. Special thanks to the wonderful caregivers, Kay Mann, Holly Riddle and Karen Purves. The interment will be private and a Memorial Service will be held at The Salisbury Presbyterian Church, 13621 W.
