Betty Sue McGee Henshaw, 87, of Powhatan, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025. She was one of God’s Masterpieces when it came to being a mother and grandmother. We lacked nothing in the way of love, support, kindness, and homemade rolls. No matter where her home was, it was open to everyone, and she shared her faith abundantly, along with homecooked meals (and a candy bar as you went out the door.) She never ran out of hugs and she had a way of saying, “I love you”…and you knew she did. Along with the most twinkly blue eyes, these things we will cherish and miss deeply.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Henshaw, Jr.. Betty Sue is survived by her sons, Danny Henshaw (Cindi) and James Henshaw (Deborah); step-children, George Henshaw III (Kathleen), Vernon Henshaw (Susan), Jane Friel (Robert) and Patty Witt (Glen); siblings, Buddy McGee, Barbara Webber and Jimmy McGee; grandchildren, Morgan Tapp (Adam), Jeffrey (Kelly) Henshaw, Alan Henshaw; great-granddaughters, Taylor, Caroline and Ella, Addison and Ryleigh. Tremendous gratitude from the family to our Aunt Barbara for her unwavering love and continued support for our mother, and each of us. Also, to Lisa Harris, Nancy Lowery and Jenneane Henshaw…you made her life better. Betty was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Powhatan Ward. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in The Church of Latter-Day Saints, 1957 Capeway Road, Powhatan. A service will follow at 12:00 pm. Immediately following the service a meal will be provided by the Relief Society. Interment will be held at the Jones Chapel Cemetery.
