Betty Lou Hertzler

Betty Lou Hertzler, 87, of Powhatan, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Norman Mast and Virginia Smucker Mast. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Hertzler; and sisters, Laura Wenger and Dory Grove. 

She is survived by her son, Kevin Hertzler of Powhatan; daughter, Anita Lucas (Michael) of Shenandoah; and grandchildren, Morgan and Ty. 

Betty had a big heart and enjoyed helping others. She worked as a registered nurse, retiring after many years and then went into private nursing for a family in Goochland. She was a member of the Powhatan Garden Club and was a talented artist. Most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is loved and will be dearly missed. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Powhatan Mennonite Church, 3540 Old Buckingham Rd, Powhatan, VA 23139. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow after the service in the church cemetery.
