Cassandra Lee Barney (Stewart)

Cassandra Lee Barney (Stewart), 41, was called home after a courageous battle with breast cancer on October 1, 2024. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Ellen Kay Morris Knabe. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her father; Jerry Barney; second mother, Jean Barney; second father, Wayne Knabe; sister, Erin Barney; brother Phil Knabe (Mary), special nephew; Phillip Knabe; best friend from childhood, Brenda Lackey Castro; other cherished friends Maria Gregory and Cat Smith; and most beloved pets, Fondue, Max, and Honey and 3 cats. She graduated from Ferrum College in 2005 and went on to a successful career as a Title Underwriter. She found great reward in her duties as a Special Needs Aid at Patrick Henry High School and at Hanover Humane Society. Like her mother, she loved the color pink and was passionate about her pets, family, and friends. Cassie’s generosity towards her friends and family was always genuine. Cassie never met a challenge she couldn’t handle. She went through life handling the good and the bad with strength, courage, and determination. A funeral service will be held Friday October 4, 2024, in The Genito Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am. with a visitation one hour prior. Internment Church Cemetery.
