Charles "Chuck" Edward August, III

Charles “Chuck” Edward August III, of Richmond, passed away on August 22, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous, hard fought battle with cancer. Chuck was born on September 15, 1960 to Charles and Thelma August in Richmond, Virginia. He was the youngest of 3 children and the only son. As the baby of the family, he was loved tremendously and doted on by his parents, sisters, and grandparents. As a child he enjoyed routinely bragging to his sisters about how important he was. In 1978 Chuck met the love of his life, Theresa. They were inseparable from that moment on. They were married on March 19, 1979. They shared a deep unconditional love and many wonderful adventures together. They were best friends. Together they had one daughter, Christina. Chuck was a loving husband, father, son, granddaddy, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend. He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed listening to classic rock. He was routinely the jukebox DJ at his favorite neighborhood bar. Chuck was fun and charismatic, and he made friends everywhere he went. He was funny and quick witted. If you ever needed a good comeback, Chuck was your guy. He was smart, stubborn, and always stood up for the underdog. He loved history and watching the history channel. His smile and unique laugh could light up a room. He lived his life fully and unapologetically on his own terms. We should all try to live our lives with some of his boldness. Chuck was loved tremendously, and will be missed beyond measure. Mr. August is survived by his wife, Theresa, his daughter and her spouse, Christina and WIlliam Dowe, granddaughter, Ella Dowe, grandson, Ethan Dowe, sisters, Catherine Nierescher and Judy August Prince, as well as his nieces, nephews, cousins and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Edward August Jr and mother Thelma Southall August. A celebration of life will be held for Chuck on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 6p.m. - 8p.m. at Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy, Powhatan, Virginia 23139.
