Charles Edward "Charlie" Newton

Charles Edward "Charlie" Newton, 73, of Powhatan, went home July 2, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Gail Brooke Newton; five children and their families: daughter, Denise Hatcher, her son, Garrett Hatcher, both of Powhatan; son, David Newton and his wife, Cathy, of Chesterfield and their children, Dustin Newton (Elizabeth) of Alexandria, Chad Newton of Harrisonburg; daughter, Dara Jackson of Gloucester and her children, Tiffany Morris (Andrew) and their child, Ada, Jason Lindsay (Michelle) of Tennessee and their children, Heaven, Brinlee and Kahlan, Brent Jackson (Beth) of Georgia and their children, Brayden and Carter, Devan Jackson of Gloucester; son, Russell Newton and his wife, Robin, of Petersburg and their child, Brittni Newton, and her children, Dillon and Kai; daughter, Melissa Conner and her husband, Ian, and their children, Sean, Catherine, Will, all of Midlothian; three sisters, one brother; and a loyal companion, Shakespeare. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt.60), Powhatan. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Powhatan United Methodist Church. Interment Powhatan Community Cemetery.
