Charles L. Thomas started his life November 17, 1942 in Albemarle county, VA. He was survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Mills Thomas. Charles and Mary fell in love at a young age and had five (5) children, Terrie Batten, Shelby Shores (Linwood), Kathy Nowacki (Brian), Charles Thomas JR (Melissa), and Donna Painter (Tony). Charles (Lefty) as most people know him. Being born in the country gave him a love for the outdoors. Lefty (PawPaw) as the children called him, would work hard on his yard to have it just right for the twelve (12) grandchildren Carmen, Stacie, Nikki, Rusty, Ryan, Anthony, Brad, Tyler, Tanner, Mariah, Olivia, and Ben, to play a game of cornhole or a competitive round of putting. PawPaw had thirteen (13) great grandchildren, Jordan, Dawson, Emerson, Josh, Sara, Callen, Angelina, Eli, Rowen, Madilyn, Rylan, Nala and Nolan, that he loved to buy candy, cakes, and ice cream, all the sweets that he loved to eat. He loved his family and encouraged each one to work hard at anything they did. Lefty never met a stranger and would give his last dollar to anyone who needed it. Lefty was the tree in his garden of many flowers. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6-8:00 PM at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at passion community church in Powhatan On Thursday the 29th at 1 o'clock .
