Clara Murreen Bratton, 85, went home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2023, after a short illness. “Murreen” is survived by a son, Teno (Christine French) of Red House, VA, a daughter Terry Tatar (George) of Lancaster, PA, a sister, Irma S. Heath of Farmville, VA; grandchildren, Laura, Hannah, Robby and Megan; great-grandchildren Cameron, Nathalie and Theodore; and a large number of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws and cousins. Murreen joins her beloved husband, Byron Bratton, her parents Hepler and Clara Fogus, her sister Barbara Jane Windon and many other family members and friends in her Heavenly home. Murreen loved the Lord and loved life with joy, curiosity, energy, and enthusiasm. She was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Church, Powhatan, where she taught Sunday school. She was a teacher’s aide in the Powhatan schools. She went to school in her early 30’s to become a hairdresser and continued doing hair in her home until she was 80. She had a special love for children and animals. Her greatest accomplishments were her love for her family and friends, and how she made a positive impact on the heart, mind and soul of the people she met. She was heard to say, many times over her extraordinary life, “Are you a Christian? Do you know Jesus?” She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Powhatan, at 1:00pm, on Saturday, December 30, 2023
