Daniel Simpson

Daniel Simpson passed away on November 23,2017. He was born in Burlington Vermont, son of Helen O'Brien Simpson. He is survived by his wife, Lucille (Lucy) Varsho. He graduated from the University of Vermont and received a scholarship to Iowa State where he was assigned to the Atomic Energy Commission Laboratory. After graduation he accepted a position with the National Development Center of the Tennessee Valley Authority in Mussel Shoals, Alabama. Several years later he had an offer from Philip Morris in Richmond. He took a sabbatical and received his PHD in chemistry from VCU and Medical College of Virginia. He was honored by Phi Kappa Phi which is a scientific honor society. He served 6 years in the Army National Guard and belonged to the Knights of Columbus Scottish Society, Virginia Train Collectors and several scientific organizations. Interment will be at a later date.
