Donald Barrett, 82 of Powhatan, VA passed away March 1, 2024. He is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Judy; children, Eric (Laura) and Lynda; grandchildren, Mackenzie (Stephen), Abbigail (Ellis), Connor, and Zachary; great grandchildren, Darcie and Leeland; brother Carl Swigart (Rae-Lynne), and sisters-in-law Betty Barrett and Beverly Hahn. Donald proudly served his country for four years in the United States Coast Guard. He attended Pittsburgh Institute of Technology. He worked in communications and later formed his own business (Cardinal Communications). He was an active member of his community, serving as a Charter Member of the Powhatan Moose Lodge. He also volunteered in activities such as the Christmas Mother, Meals on Wheels, and Special Olympics. Donald enjoyed bowling, golf, sailing and cycling, as well as watching his grandchildren participate in sports and various activities. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Powhatan United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life will be held 2 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Powhatan United Methodist Church 2253 Rosson Road Powhatan, VA 2313.
