Dowe Watson Jr., 91 of Powhatan went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 30, 2022. He has been reunited with his loving wife of 70 years, Mary Morris Watson along with his granddaughter Angela Moore; son in law Hubert Moore; brothers Howard Lee and Harold Watson; and sister Merle Wingfield. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Moore; grandson, Hugh Moore (James); brothers, Carroll, Ray and Gene Watson and many other cherished family members and devoted friends along with his dedicated sister-in law and brother-in law, Bill and Goldie Nixon; nephew, Chris Nixon (Celina); and niece Jennifer Nixon (Rodney).

He was born in Sevierville, TN in 1931 to the parents of the late Dowe Watson Sr. and Mamie Stinnett Watson. In 1938, his family moved to Buckingham, VA. He attended Arvonia High School and at the age of 17, enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was employed by Westvaco Corporation in 1956 where he became the Head of the Maintenance Department and later retired. He was a long time member of Graceland Baptist church. He was a member and Past Master of the Masonic Manchester Lodge No.14. He enjoyed listening to and playing music, fishing, golfing and hunting.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4-7pm at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy, Powhatan. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel, 11am Tuesday, January 3, 2022. Interment Powhatan Community Cemetery following the service.
