Edna Marie Huband Vimpeny, 89, of Powhatan, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at her home. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Rev. Leonard Charles Vimpeny; her parents, Albert Linwood and Thelma Trimmer Huband; sister, Anna Mae Huband; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Albert Linwood and Jean Huband, and Douglas Lee and Margie Huband; and grandson, Daniel Bryant Hamlin. She is survived by four daughters and their spouses, Rebecca and Kenneth Hatcher of Powhatan, Ann and Gene Hatcher of Powhatan, Lynn and Frank Higgs of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Brian Lewis of Powhatan; eight grandchildren; twenty great -grandchildren; a sister, Erma Huband and Herbert Hudson of Chesterfield. Edna was devoted to serving her Savior and being a faithful helpmate in her husband's ministries. She was a selfless mother instilling and modeling Christian values in her daughters and their families. She was an active member of each church her husband pastored in South Carolina, West Virginia, and Virginia and was a faithful member of Muddy Creek Baptist Church in her latter years. Through the years Edna taught Sunday School and served on numerous committees. She loved missions and served in local and state Woman' s Missionary Union (WMU) offices. The family will receive friends Friday, March 8 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 9 at 11:00 A.M., Muddy Creek Baptist Church, 3470 Trenholm Road, Powhatan, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to Muddy Creek Church Endowment Fund.
