Edward Carlyle Canada, Sr., born in Halifax county April 13, 1920, passed away May 14, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 72 years Brownne Graham Canada; son, Edward C. Canada, Jr. (Glenna) of Courtland; 5 daughters, Joan Cooper (Wayne), Stanard Jessup (Robert), Anita Townes (Stuart) all of Powhatan, Catherine Canada of Mechanicsville, Beverly Ellenhorn (Cory) of Fairfax; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Mr. Canada was a WWII army veterans and served in Europe and Phillippines. He owned and operated Canada Contracting Co. for 40 years. Also he was a member of American Legion Post 186 and played in the James River Baseball League as a young man. A memorial service will be held Wednesday 2pm in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, Chapel 3215 Anderson Hwy.(Rt.60), Powhatan.
