Elinor Byrd Parrish Dowdy

Elinor Byrd Parrish Dowdy, 91, of Powhatan, passed away October 6, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Lewis Dowdy: her son, Lewis Michael Dowdy: her grandson, Shane Wood: parents, Eddie Clay and Irene Parrish; siblings Primo Parrish, Gene Parrish, Ruby Gene Parrish, and Dewey, Mac and Clifton Siddons. She is survived by her children, Diane Wood (Mike), Barbara Dowtin (Tommy Nix), Carolyn Black (Fred), Linda Ransone (Jimmy), Suzanne Henderson (Rob) and Audra Atherton (Ian); two sisters, Nelda Irene Parrish and Shirley Parrish Burton (Linwood) of Sandy Hook, Virginia. She was Nanny to 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren and aunt to many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to her loving caregivers and Amedisys Hospice. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm Sunday, October 8, 2023 at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home 3215 Anderson Hwy, Powhatan, also where services will be Monday, October 9, at 11:00 am, interment  Powhatan Community Cemetery.
