Farrell Ray Willis

September 18, 1945 — January 26, 2022

Farrell Ray Willis, (Poppy to most), went to be with the Lord Wednesday January 26, 2022. Farrell was born In Clintwood, VA on September 18, 1945, to the late Eula Mae Rose and the late Ray Willis. He went to school in Bristol, Virginia/Tennessee and later acquired his GED. H spent most of his childhood summers with his grandfather, Josh Rose, on Honey Camp Ridge, Clintonwood, VA. At age 19, he married the love of his life, Judith (Judy) Carol Mullins on March 31, 1965. They met when he was 17 and she was 15 at Holston Dam, Tennessee while swimming, when he saved her sister Sandy’s life. The lived in Manassas, VA for several years while he managed fast food restaurants. They continued to move and live around Virginia and Maryland until moving to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1973. Later, while living in West Palm Beach, FL, Farrell formed a southern rock band called “Dixie Highway” and played in nightclubs and bars for about four years before moving back to Virginia. A few months after returning to Virginia, they started attending services at Full Gospel Church of Powhatan and have been members ever since. Farrell has been a devoted member of the church for many years. He started the prayer line in 1992 and continued it faithfully through the years. He served as Deacon and took his duties seriously. For several years he went to nursing homes to sing to the shut ins. He was the lead singer at the church until his health prevented him from attending. Farrell loved to work and took pride in his job. But, absolutely nothing compared to the love he had for God and his family. Farrell is survived by his wife, of almost 57 years, Judy Willis; daughter, Rhonda Griffin (Wayne); granddaughters, Stephanie Griffin (Billy Lewis), Carolyn Green (Cody); great-grandchildren, Shyann Lewis, Taylor Lewis, Kayleigh (Kota) Lewis, Jenna Lewis, Lindsey Lewis, Wyatt Lewis, Skylar Lewis, Zaiden Wall and Piper Wall. He is not leaving them behind forever. Make the right choices and we will all be celebrating with him again, walking and dancing in the streets of Heaven.
