Flora “Mae” Bryan, 58, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 19, 2021 at her home in Powhatan County with her husband, Russell Bryan, by her side. She was born in Richmond, VA in 1963. She was the daughter of the late Charles Redman and Flora Combs Redman. She was also predeceased by her brother, Charles W (Billy) Redman.
Mae was a devoted wife and mother. She and her husband Russell worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their daughters. She would proudly boast to anyone about her kids and grandkids. She cared deeply for her family and community. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Mae was an avid gardener and always had a meticulous display of flowers around her yard, as well as a large vegetable garden. However, spending time with her grandchildren, Lily and Mia, brought her the most enjoyment. She left a lasting impression on everyone that she met. Her infectious smile and bigger than life personality brightened every room that she walked into. She is described by many as a person that would go out of her way to help others when they needed it the most. Mae enriched many lives and will be deeply missed.
Mae is survived by her husband, Russell Bryan: daughters, Stephanie Bryan, Jennifer Bryan; granddaughters, Lily Bryan, Mia Bryan; sisters, Nita Redman, Marie Almarode, Lynnie Dalton (Clinton); brothers, Benjamin (Bubba) Redman, John F. Redman, Abraham Redman (Carol); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 27th, at 11 AM at Bennett and Barden Funeral Home at 3215 Anderson Highway in Powhatan County.
