George K. "Skeeter" Wright, Jr., 80, of Deltaville, formerly of Powhatan, son of the late Kenneth and Frances Wright, passed away February 14, 2014. He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Mary L. Wright; daughter, Teresa Lyles (Bobby) of Powhatan; son, Kenny Wright, III (Gale) of Rawlings; stepchildren, Charles Reams (Susan) of Blackstone, Ben Reams (Gina) of Powhatan, Terry Barnard (Jerry) of Amelia, Camille Reams of South Carolina; brother, Stevie Wright of Powhatan; grandchildren, Erika Morrison, Ashley & Brooke Reams, Travis, Scott & Katherine Barnard, Alli & Thomas Moore, Benjamin Reams; great grandchildren, Olivia & Amaya Morrison. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Wright. Retiring after 31 years of loyal service from Powhatan Post Office, Skeeter and his wife moved and enjoyed 21 years on their beloved Piankatank River. A true patriot, Skeeter served his country with two active years in the Army during the Korean War and retired as Sgt. First Class from the Army National Guard after 28 dedicated years of service. Skeeter was an avid NASCAR fan, loved fishing and traveling with Mary to auctions for oyster plates. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy.(Rt.60), Powhatan. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11 am in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
