Helen B. Toombs

Helen B. Toombs, 87, of Powhatan, widow of Harry W. Toombs, went to be with the Lord with her family at her side, June 7, 2016. She is survived by her son, Clint E. Toombs (Kathy) of Powhatan; daughters, Nita L. Thompson of Richmond, Patricia A. Weeks of Powhatan; sisters, Margaret Johnson, Iona Winston; grandchildren, Mary Coleman-Puckett (Charles), William "Bubba" Johnson (Suzanne), Earl Toombs, Stephanie Sowers (Trey), Brent Toombs, Chad Toombs; great grandchildren, Hannah Johnson, Katie Johnson, Mackenzie Coleman, Jonathan Coleman, Aiden Sowers, Henry Sowers, Ellie Sowers, Destiny Weeks, Joshua Weeks; great great grandchild, Hazel Weeks. Helen loved children. After raising her own children, she went on to raise Mary and Bubba. Helen also left two dog behind, Socks and Rocky, which she treated like her children. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8pm in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy.(Rt.60), Powhatan and where a memorial service will be held Saturday at 1pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice Community Care.
