Hilda M. Tryon

It is with both sadness and joy that we announce the passing of Hilda M. Tryon, 102, on February 15, 2025. Hilda was born on June 6, 1922 in Berwind, WV to John and Jane Nuttall who had emigrated from the U.K. She married Morris Tryon of Fairfield, CT on September 22, 1945 after his release from a German POW camp at the end of WWII. During their 59 year marriage they raised three children; Robert, Betsy and Joyce. She is survived by her daughter Joyce of Moseley, VA with whom she happily resided the last 5 years of her life. She is also survived by her beloved daughter-in-law, Helene (Mike), her grandson Scott (Alexis) and great granddaughters Adelaide and Evelyn and several nieces and nephews. Hilda and Morris and family lived in Stratford, CT for many years before deciding to ditch the cold weather and retire in Fayetteville, NC where Hilda was active in her church and did volunteer work for those in need. She was a beautiful person inside and out and she enjoyed her long life and many friends. Hilda had a special spot in her heart for her feline companion, Babe, and if so inclined donations in her name can be made to Southside SPCA, PO Box 66, Meherrin,VA 23954. Her ashes will be interred in Fayetteville where she will be with Morris and Babe forever. A celebration of life memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
