KIDWELL, James, E., 75, of Powhatan, died March 28, 2012, at home peacefully in his sleep. God knew that he had suffered for so long and called him home to rest. He was born September 28. 1936 in Brunswick, Md., to the late Wilson T. and Frances V. Kidwell. He served his country as a paratrooper in the Army from 1954 to 1966 as a member of the 11th Airborne, 82nd Airborne and then to the 101st Airborne Division. He was wounded during combat in Vietnam and became a T6 paraplegic on March 6, 1966. He is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Sandra (Sandy) A. Kidwell; stepson, Nathan E. Daniel; mother-in-law, Emily M. Amos; brother, Clark T. Kidwell (Nancy) of Finksburg, Md; sisters, Maryellen (Sue) Winpigler of Frederick, Md., Shirley Moran of Timberlake, NC, Wanda King of Middletown, Md; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dear friend and father-in-law, Milton C. Amos, Jr., brothers, William Alfred, Gilbert W., Robert L. (Bobby), Gary F., and sister, Lorna V. Rote. The family will receive friends Friday (today) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan.
