James F. Lassiter

James F. Lassiter, 79, of Powhatan, went home to be with his loving wife, Elsie N. Sheives-Lassiter on June 27, 2013. He is survived by his children, Wayne Lassiter of Powhatan, Donna King (Drew) of Chesterfield, Wanda Powers (Porky) of Powhatan; sisters, Virginia Hartley and Myrtle Riggsby, both of Mineral; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. Lassiter was an avid gardener, who loved to share his knowledge of gardening. He was a retired truck driver for Estes Trucking. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 pm in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan. A graveside service will be held Monday 12 noon in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or Graceland Baptist Church.
