James Harrison Nixon, 69 of Powhatan, Virginia, passed away May 18th, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Freddy and Virgie Nixon. He is survived by his wife, Betty Nixon; son, James Riley; brother, Bill Nixon. Jimmy was a long time member of Powhatan Fire Co. 3 and a founding member of Powhatan Company 5. Among many proud accomplishments in his life, Jimmy co-owned Nixon Brothers Excavation with his brother Bill and J&B Nixon Septic with his wife Betty as well as raising chickens for egg production. Jimmy never met a stranger, never thought bad of a person, and never met a person in need he wouldn’t help. He loved fishing, flying, hunting and most of all family, friends, and fur babies, always at least 5 dogs and a couple cats. Farming was a way of life as was the vol. fire department (26 years plus). Strong family man with great love for his family. Jimmy felt most at home on his loader clearing lots and helping others, and to Betty, he was the most loving person in her life. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Deep Creek Fire department Company #5. Online condolences may be made at bennettbardenfh.com
