James A. Henderson, Jr.

Henderson, James A. Jr. passed away on November 16th 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Henderson Sr. and Belle D. Henderson and his brother Ronald. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis; his sister, Sheron Henderson Wyzisk; and brother, Glenn Henderson and his wife Toni, as well as several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. Jim was a member of Bon Air Christian Church (DOC). The family also gratefully extends their appreciation to the staff of VCU Health- Hospice at Home by Bayada and all of the caregivers for their assistance during his illness. Jim taught for 35 years at assorted schools and truly felt that job was the reason he was put on the earth. He absolutely loved it. To this day, he still calls his students "his kids". He also enjoyed assorted sports throughout his life which included, among others, baseball, fishing, football and rugby. The family will receive friends at 11 AM, Monday November 20th, 2023 at Bennett and Barden Funeral Home at 3215 Anderson Hwy, 23139.
