James Richard Arthur

James R. "Jim" Arthur, 74, of Columbia, passed away January 28, 2017. he is survived by his wife Lois R. Arthur; two children, Kim Lightfoot (Danny), James R. "Little Jim" Arthur (Michelle); three siblings, Howard(Nancy), Donald(Charlene), Penny; and five grandchildren, Tiffany(David), Amber, Kaitlyn, Kyle and Kendall. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard & Ola Arthur and nephew Rusty. Jim was a Boy Scout leader, volunteered at the election Poles, Past master in the Masonic Lodge, past Ruritan president, deacon in the church, helped start CVVRS and had his own gospel group. He also enjoyed collecting guns, canes , guitars and fishing poles. Jim also loved watching college basketball. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8pm in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy.(Rt. 60), Powhatan. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11a.m. Cartersville Baptist Church, Interment Cartersville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cartersville Vol. Fire Dept. P.O. Box 38,or Cartersville vol. Rescue Squad P.O. Box 15, Cartersville VA. 23027 .
