Jo Anne Canada Hackworth

born April 12, 1950, in Clover, VA departed this life on November 2, 2013, at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard F. and Edith C. Canada of Clover, VA. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Dennis R. Hackworth; son Benjamin Crews Hackworth (Erika) and grandson Alasdair Jourdan Hackworth; son Adam Dennis Hackworth; brother B. David Canada (Beverly); in-laws Kenneth L. and Carol V. Hackworth as well as many relatives and friends, including Judy M. Edwards and Carol G. Trejo. She also leaves behind her faithful companions, Zoey and Capone. Jo Anne taught mathematics at Providence Middle School for 33 years and part time at Midlothian High School for 6 years. She was a co-founder, with her longtime friend and colleague Barbara Thorpe, of WMWC. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 - 8PM in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home 3215 Anderson Hwy. (RT 60) Powhatan, and where a memorial service will be held 1PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Chesterfield Humane Society or Bon Secours Hospice.
