John D. Roberts, III

March 23, 1991 — September 15, 2013

John D. Roberts III, 22, of Powhatan, died on September 15, 2013, in a tragic fishing accident at his favorite fishing hole. May he rest in peace. He was born in Richmond on March 23, 1991. He is survived by his father and step mother Kip and Vanessa Roberts; mother and step father, Beth and Don Kozma; siblings, Tiffany Parkhill, Corinne and Logan Roberts; grandparents, Skip and Mary Roberts; aunt and uncle Bobbi and Mike Jones; uncle, Trip Roberts; close family friends, Nathan Daniel and Sandy Kidwell (where he resided), Brien Lowery along with many other dear relatives and friends. John (nicknamed John John as a child), was a tender hearted and loving young man. As a child and teenager, he enjoyed playing soccer, football, skateboarding and hanging out with friends. He attended Deep Run High School in Glen Allen. He loved bowling, following in his family's footsteps. In recent times, he developed a passion for fishing and spent many a day on the local private lake where he was at peace. John was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him. His light was powerful and bright and will continue to shine on in our hearts until we are no more. The family will receive friends Friday September 20, 2013 from 6 to 7:30 pm in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt.60), Powhatan, followed by a memorial service at 7:30pm.
