John Frederick Graves

John Frederick Graves of Powhatan Va. was born to Cecile Perry and Whitfield Graves on December 19, 1937, and died peacefully at home on June 27, 2022. John graduated from New Kent High School and Hampden-Sydney College ('60). After graduating, John served in the Army where he was stationed in Korea. John started his career working for VEPCO in Fredericksburg. After stops in Warsaw, Charlottesville, and Virginia Beach, he finished his career working for Virginia Power in Herndon. He led a life full of integrity, humor, and love for his family. John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Roosevelt Graves; daughters Laura G. Pleasants (Greg) and Jenifer G. Donalson (Chris); five grandchildren Adam and Ryan Pleasants and Mia, Wade, and Trevor Donalson; and sister Jane G. Boho. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 6, at 11 AM at the Powhatan United Methodist Church at 2253 Rosson Rd. Powhatan VA. In lieu of flowers, tell someone that you love them.
