Joshua David Meier

Joshua David Meier, aka “The Man”, passed away August 15,2018. He died, as he lived, doing all the things he loved, in the place he loved, surrounded by those who loved him best. Josh lived life to it’s very fullest, never backing down from a challenge, quick with a joke and a laugh and being the very best friend, he could be. Josh showed us all how to embrace life with childlike abandon. He was the very best Dad to Liam (5) and Everly (2). He was loved and admired by the children of his community, with whom he played sports and games, right alongside Liam, who was never far from Josh’s side. Josh, who never met a stranger, was the first to lend a hand to whomever was in need. He always put his family’s wellbeing before his own, giving the very best of himself to the world around him. The world has lost one of its most beautiful souls; leaving in it’s place many broken hearts. He leaves behind a loving wife, Lauren Cregg, two beautiful children Liam Meier and Everly Meier, his beloved parents Kevin and Kathrine Meier, 4 sisters: Kristine Skiff (Meier), Stephanie Perdue (Meier), Jennifer Quann (Meier), and Sarah Cregg, 5 brothers: Joseph Meier, Stephen Meier, Tobias Meier, Josiah Meier and Kalum Cregg , mother and father in-law Brenda and Rick Bell, and his favorite Uncle and Aunt Jim and Marni Walker; also, his 11 nephews and 10 nieces and many, many amazing friends most notably Tripp Cannella, Alex Barrett, Tyler Weatherford and Josiah Meier, who was his best friend, as well as his brother. Services will be held at Bennett and Barden Funeral Home (3215 Anderson Highway, Powhatan, VA 23139), on August 21,2018. The viewing will be held from 2-4 pm, immediately followed by a service.
