Joyce Jones Maxey

She somehow found loveliness everywhere she went - perhaps because she brought so much of it with her. Joyce Jones Maxey, 85, went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, at May Memorial Baptist Church in Powhatan, Virginia. Interment private Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 21. Joyce was born and raised in Amelia, Va. attended Longwood College and served as secretary for the Bank of Powhatan for years. A devoted wife and mother, preceded in death by her parents, Saunie C. Jones and Maude G. Jones; siblings, Saunie Jones Jr., Clyde Jones and Lucille Gentry. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paris C. Dobbins,and is survived by their children, Paris C. Dobbins, Jr., and his wife, Teresa; Patricia Flippo and her husband, Ewell; and Brenda Walton and her husband, Richard. She was preceded in death by her second husband, William E. Maxey, Jr., and is survived by his children, Billy Maxey, and Betsy Combs and her husband, Tommy. Nine proud grandchildren will carry on her legacy of joy by passing the good memories down to her 16 great-grandchildren.
