Marie Hertzler

Marie Hertzler, 90, passed away on January 23rd, 2025. Marie was born at home in Chambersburg, PA to Harry Kuhns and Carrie (Kriner) Kuhns. Marie was married for 71 years to her High School sweetheart, Robert (Mr. Bob) Hertzler on October 24th, 1953. Marie Hertzler was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Carrie Kuhns, her cherished sisters, Miriam Kauffman and Joyce Harshberger, and her adored brother, Donald Kuhns. Marie is survived by her soulmate and biggest supporter, Robert (Mr. Bob) Hertzler. Her sister-in-law, Karen Kuhns, and brothers-in-law, Elroy Kauffman and David Harshberger. Her children, Robert Lynn Hertzler, Anthony Vaughn (Kathy) Hertzler, and Cheryl Kristine (Ron) Snyder. 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her Church family at Powhatan Mennonite Church, her beloved Powhatan County Community, a whole world of friends she hadn’t met yet. She and Mr. Bob owned and operated Fighting Creek Dairy Farm. She volunteered as an EMT and ambulance driver at Powhatan Rescue Squad answering 1700 calls to assist those in need in her community. She worked 15 years at the Bank of Powhatan as a Teller combining her love of people and her financial skills. Her greatest passions were traveling and bicycling. She logged over 63,000 miles in 18 countries and traveled to an additional 18 countries many of which were with Mr. Bob. She never saw a road she didn’t like! Visitation will be held before the Memorial Service on February 8th, 9:00 -11:00 AM at Powhatan Mennonite Church, 3540 Old Buckingham Road, Powhatan, VA 23139 The Memorial Service will be held immediately following at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Ingle officiating.
