Max Wayne Byers

Max Wayne Byers, 84, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 5th, 2025. Born July 18th, 1940, he was a graduate of Hedgesville H.S. in Hedgesville, WV, and was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of nearly 60 years, Ina Grace (Dove) Byers. A military veteran, Max spent his working career of more than 30 years with VEPCO (now known as Dominion Energy). A smoker for forty years, he quit cold turkey in 1995 and never smoked again. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Eileen, Wanda and Pamela, and his daughter, Debra Ann Dodson. He is survived by his son, Mark Anthony. A member of Graceland Baptist Church in Powhatan, Virginia., in retirement he enjoyed playing with his 'grandpups' including his most recent, Molly; watching reruns of 'The Andy Griffith Show;' and sitting on his front porch reading God's Word. He will be missed. A visitation will be from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM with music from 2:00 to 2:30 with a graveside service to follow Monday, March 10th, 2025 at Graceland Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
