Melvin Ellis Lloyd, 73, of Powhatan, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 22, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Jean Graham Lloyd; sons, Graham Lloyd (Maria) of Midlothian, Sean Lloyd of Powhatan and Barrett Lloyd (Miranda) of Powhatan; brothers, Willard Lloyd of Halifax and Phillip Lloyd of Crewe; sisters, Dale Mitchell of Chesterfield and Shelia Bowlin of Amelia; grandchildren, Mason, Isabella, Maybrie. Ellis Lloyd was a custom builder for 43 years, and prided himself on ensuring his homes and craftsmanship reflected a quality of years past. Ellis was an avid lover of music and enjoyed singing and playing his guitar throughout his life, entertaining his friends at many social gatherings over his lifetime. Ellis loved the outdoors and spent much of his leisure time working in the yard, playing golf, hunting, fishing, and trips to the beach with family and friends. A collector of classic and older cars, he was always on the hunt for an antique car. A man of diverse interests and talents, he was best known as being a great friend and one that made you laugh. Ellis had a God-given ability in relating to people with an energizing manner that made you feel good and that life was exciting and fun. He smiled a lot, found the positive in most things, and lived a passionate life by working and playing hard. In his final battle with cancer, he was an inspiration to all – faithful to God and friends to the end. Ellis Lloyd will be forever loved and missed. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 pm in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt60). Funeral services will be held Saturday, 3 pm in the May Memorial Baptist Church, Powhatan. Interment Old Powhatan Baptist Church Cemetery, Powhatan.
