Patrice Sevilla Anderson

Patrice Anderson, 65, of Powhatan passed away on August 12, 2023 at CJW Medical
Center in Midlothian. She was born on July 17, 1958 in Petersburg, VA to George D. Filippi and Mercedes Andrews Filippi. She is predeceased by her parents, and her stepfather, William Robinson.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Barry Anderson of Powhatan. She is
also survived by her daughter, Jennifer and husband Kenneth "Bud" Allen and granddaughter Jessica Allen of Chesterfield, VA. Also left to keep her memory alive are her siblings David Filippi (Emily) of White Stone, VA; Robert Filippi of Blacksburg, VA; Linda Filippi (John Heckel) of Chesapeake, VA; Mark Filippi (Donna) of Chester. VA; brother-in-law Donald Anderson of Keeling, VA; and sister-in-law Sonja Gregory of South Boston, VA. She also leaves behind cherished nephews (6) and nieces (3) as well as many, many friends.

Patrice graduated from Thomas Dale High School and later received her Certification as a Nurse's Assistant in Richmond, VA. She retired from Philip Morris but her true vocation was her work with the Richmond Animal League where she developed a large and loving human and feline family. She fostered and facilitated countless adoptions of kittens, and worked with teams to trap, neuter and release feral cats. It was the perfect match for her kind and compassionate spirit. 

She loved the ocean and trips to the Outer Banks with Barry and friends. She was a wonderful cook and baker, a crafter, a gardener and lover of nature. Her sense of humor, storytelling and raucous laugh were unmatched. She was not only able to make friends easily but to maintain long and faithful friendships throughout her life.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at
Bennett & Barden Funeral Home at 3215 Anderson Highway, Powhatan, VA 23139. The funeral will be the following day, August 16, 2023, 11 AM, at Bennett & Barden followed by burial at the Powhatan Community Cemetery.
