Ralph H Earnhardt, Jr, 76, died peacefully in his sleep early Monday, 11 February 2019. Ralph was born in Concord, NC, son of Martha Cress and Ralph H Earnhardt, Sr. He attended East Carolina College, and began a 40+ year hospitality career in Colonial Williamsburg. He continued in Richmond ultimately ending this career with the Virginia Tourism Corporation, where he helped orchestrate events to celebrate the Jamestown Settlement 400th anniversary.
“Mr Ralph” continued his hospitality as a school bus driver in Powhatan county where he welcomed all “his kids” twice a day. He was an avid cook, photographer, and Harley rider. He loved to compete alongside his Shiba Inus, earning many awards especially with Akiko. He was an active member of Passion Community Church (PCC) and several Harley groups.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Susanne; daughter Maria White (Randy); step-sons Rick Stevenson and Thomas Stevenson (Heidi), step-daughter, Amber Decker (Sasha); cousin Vivian Barbour; sisters Erna Brown (James), Marnie Messenger (Jeff), brother Chris Earnhardt; and 8 step-grandchildren. Many friends will miss him, especially his best friend Owen Bryant. Ralph was an unforgettable character... definitely one-of-a-kind! The family will receive friends at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, February 14, with a memorial service to follow at 4:30 p.m. in PCC, Powhatan Campus, 4480 Anderson Hwy., Powhatan, Va.
