Sebastian Charles ���Seb�� SISTI

90, of Powhatan, died June 28th, 2014 in Henrico, VA. Sebastian was born on December 12, 1923 in Jersey City, New Jersey. His mother, Antonia Sisti, was born in Torre le Nocelle, Italy. His father, Antonio Sisti, born in Potenza, Italy, was a barber who died when Sebastian was eight years old. Despite his humble beginnings and early personal tragedies, Sebastian excelled academically and was a member of the National Honor and National Forensic Societies. Exempt from WWII military service because of a childhood accident that left him with only one eye, he attended the University of Miami from 1941 to 1945. After the war, he started his own magazine in Florida and, later, his own advertising agency in New York City. From 1947 until his retirement, he worked as a copywriter and creative director, most of that time on Madison Avenue. A reader, prolific writer, and serial entrepreneur, Seb Sisti was a man of ideas. He was as tenacious as he was creative: in 2004, at the age of 81, he was awarded a U.S. Patent for an automotive warning light; in 2008, at 85, after decades of rejection from publishers, he received his first book contract for a series of philosophical essays about the Big Bang and biological immortality. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Joan, his son Robert, and his brother Paul. He is survived by his son, Peter Sisti, Pete's wife, Crystal Mario, of Powhatan, VA, and his granddaughter, Ashley Sisti of San Diego, CA; he is also survived by his daughter Donielle Sisti; his granddaughters Theresa Cosci, Joan Fronske, and Sarojini Hirshleifer; and his great granddaughter, Angelina Cosci, all of California. Private service and interment . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
