Sherri Raye McKenney, age 64, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024. Born on April 28, 1960, Sherri was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.
She was the devoted mother of Angel, Jessica, and Ashley McKenney, who were the pride and joy of her life. Sherri's legacy extends through her grandchildren: David, Rayden, Austin, Titus, Reese, Nevaeh, Tanner, Kayson, and her great-grandchild Luca, whom she adored and cherished deeply. Her love and dedication to her family were evident to all who knew her, and she often expressed a desire to live longer to spend more time with her beloved "grand babies."
Sherri was preceded in death by her father, Thornton Byram. She is survived by her loving mother, Fonda Byram, her sister Tammie Campbell, her twin sister Terri Poole, and her brother Steven Byram.
In her earlier years, Sherri was a dedicated homemaker, focusing her energy and love on raising her children. Once they had grown, she embarked on a new journey, partnering with her mother to run New 4 U Consignments and The Tanning Club in Midlothian, Virginia. Her entrepreneurial spirit and hard work left a lasting impact on her community.
Sherri was a woman of dreams and determination. She fulfilled her lifelong aspiration of living by the ocean, making a home in Ocean City, Maryland. Later in life, she returned to her roots in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, where she found peace and comfort among the mountains.
Sherri's smile, laughter and the ability to find the fun in life will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A celebration of Sherri's life will be held at Bennett and Barden Funeral Home in Powhatan, VA on Wednesday May 22, 2024, from 5pm to 7pm.
