Sonnyram Sookchan

Sookchan, Sonnyram A. "Hedda", 75, of Richmond, VA departed this life suddenly on Sunday, June 27, 2021. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Sonny became a resident of the US as a young adult. After moving from NY to VA, he obtained a position at Johns Manville where he worked as a machinist for over 20 years and later retired. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, music, and reading. Sonny often volunteered for and attended music festivals held in the city.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sookchan and Poonia Mahabir, and his younger brother, Mr. Ramesh Mahabir. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and siblings, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members near and abroad.

A private service for Mr. Sookchan will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021. His final resting place will be in Trinidad and Tobago.
