Steven Joey Owens

Steven Joey Owens, 64, born on March 14, 1960, in Grundy, VA. to Arthur Owens, Jr. and Florence Owens of Prater, VA. passed away September 6, 2024.

After an early death of both parents, he lived with his brother Eddie and wife Deborah in TN. and PA. He returned to Buchanan County where he met and wed his wife Hester Gail Ball and had two children, April and Brandon. He later relocated his family to Cumberland, VA.

Steve attended school in Buchanan County VA, Kingsport TN and Gettysburg, PA, where he graduated in 1978. He was an athlete, playing baseball, football and golf. He later became a coach and often talked about his undefeated season. Steve was also a musician playing both guitar and drums. He had five grandchildren: Auston, Troy, Chase, Dalton and Delilah. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews and a brother to Eddie and Teddy Owens. He worked at the Department of Conservation and Recreation for the state of VA as a Park Ranger. 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
