Thomas T. Herndon

HERNDON, Thomas T.,84,of Goochland passed away May 2,2015 with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas T. and Virginia C. Herndon, brother Louie F. Herndon, and sister Jean Rebecca Herndon. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Kilby Herndon; daughter, Debbie Herndon, grandchildren Joshua Thomas Marks (Rachel) and Brooke Marks Shannon ( Mike); great grandson, Steven Max Shannon; brother Horace Herndon (Mary) and sister-in-law Virginia H. Herndon; and adopted family Tammy Jo Martin and family, and J. Randall Myers and family; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Tommy was a member of the National Guard.He was an Assistant Manager for Pep Boys for 27 years and worked in auto sales for 18 years. He was a member of Fine Creek Baptist Church in Powhatan for 28 years. Tommy lived his life with quiet dignity.He was a mentor to many and was loved, admired, and respected by all who knew him. He especially loved hunting, fishing, and the beach. The family will receive guests Monday, May 4 form 6 to 8pm in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Highway (Rt.60), Powhatan.Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 5, at 2 pm in the Fine Creek Baptist Church, 3619 Huguenot Trail, Powhatan. Interment church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fine Creek Cemetery Fund.
