Tommy Blevins, 74, of Powhatan, VA went home to be with the Lord on November 4th, 2022.
Born on June 25, 1948, Mr. Blevins grew up in Powhatan, VA as one of 13 siblings. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam as a part of the 23rd Americal Infantry Division. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He later worked in the turf industry for many years including Golf Course Superintendent at Mill Quarter and Willow Oaks Golf Course as well as a Turf Specialist for Chesterfield County Parks & Rec. He loved God, his family, gardening, fishing, cookouts, and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ella Blevins; one son, Tommy Blevins Jr.; two daughters, Sarah Cook (Ben) and Marsha DeLeon (Andrew); 4 grandchildren, Magnolia Cook, Audrey DeLeon, Killian Cook, and Adalynn DeLeon; three brothers, Jimmy Blevins (Shirley), Bill Blevins (Debbie), and Bobby Blevins; two sisters, Ellen Poore (Eddie) and Nancy Lloyd, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Blevins and Joe Blevins; and six sisters, Ola Mae McMillion, Betty DuVall, Bernice Hodges, Carol Gross, and Lois Wills.
In accordance with his wishes, there will not be a visitation. The funeral will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022 at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002. A reception to follow will be held at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 5780 Mount Moriah Road, Powhatan, VA 23139.
