William E. Maxey, 92, of Powhatan, peacefully departed this life at home on December 22, 2013. A lifelong resident of the county, he served its citizens with honor and dedication in various positions over more than 65 years, following his Army service in World War II. He was a true gentleman, gracious, generous and humble. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 29, from 1 to 5 pm at the Christian Life Center of Powhatan United Methodist Church, 2253 Rosson Rd., Powhatan.
